Harapan Untuk SMAN 1 Tarakan

 SMAN1 TARAKAN selama ini adalah sekolah unggulan di Kota Tarakan dan untuk Kalimantan Timur bagian Utara. Banyak siswa yang mengidam idamkan bersekolah di sini. Untuk perlombaan Olimpiade dan lain lain, SMAN 1 Tarakan selalu menjadi juara umum untuk tingkat Kota Tarakan. SMAN 1 Tarakan juga memiliki siswa yang memiliki potensi untuk menjadi orang yang sukses di berbagai bidang.

Mengenai siswa SMAN 1, pencarian bibit-bibit berprestasi dilakukan secara intens oleh pihak sekolah dan dari masing masing ekstrakulikuler. Ektrakulikuler yang biasanya di utamakan adalah ekstrakulikuler bidang mata pelajaran seperti Matematika, Fisika, Kimia, PKN, Undang-Undang dan tidak ketinggalan juga Karya Ilmiah Remaja atau di sebut KIR. Tidak ketinggalan juga bidang olahraga seperti Bola Basket, Futsal dan lain lain yang menuai prestasi di bidangnya masing-masing.
